| There
have been many different class action lawsuits filed
for the serious adverse side effects that pharmaceutical
medications have caused in the past. A Serzone
class action lawsuit was recently filed against Serzone
manufacturer Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. The antidepressant
drug was first approved in December 1994 and has been
linked to cases of liver failure and other serious conditions.
Class action lawsuits are sometimes unable to cover
the extensive injuries that require a larger sum of
monetary compensation, but our team of experienced,
expert Serzone lawyers can take individual claims to
help recover the proper compensation for the injuries
you have suffered.
During the period of 1996 to June 2000 there were eighteen
cases of reported Serzone liver failures. Bristol-Myers
promised to research the effect of Serzone use on younger
patients and to report the results to the FDA, but so
far no results have been provided. The Serzone manufacturer
did say they hoped to report results to the FDA in the
early part of 2002, which would be about seven years
after the FDA approval. Serzone is currently prescribed
to young patients despite the fact that when Serzone
was FDA approved the administration knew that children
and adolescents were not safe using the antidepressant.
Clinical trials prior to Serzone's FDA approval showed
other Serzone side effects. These side effects included,
dry mouth, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, constipation,
weakness, lightheadedness, blurred vision, confusion,
and abnormal vision. Serzone was also possibly linked
to hypomania, a mood swing that ranges from euphoria,
racing thoughts, pressured speech, and excessive energy.
